Pigeon Proofing Solar Panels – Isle of Ely

Getting Rid of Pigeons under Solar Panels in Isle of Ely

Solar Panel Protection from Pigeons in Isle of Ely

The Isle of Ely is a historic county which includes the city of Ely and the area surrounding it. Its name is thought to come from the ‘isle of eels’ – a reference to the fact that you used to be able to catch eels in the rivers that ran through the county.

Prickwillow, Chettiham and Queen Adelaide, are all smaller villages surrounding the city of Ely. Queen Adelaide gets its name from a pub and was only built in the 1880s, after the railways were founded in the area.

The city of Ely owes its existence to its patron saint, Saint Etheldreda. She was given the area in 652 as part of her marriage and went on to found a monastery there. Though the monastery was destroyed by Vikings, it was rebuilt in 1083 and became the famous Ely Cathedral.

The city holds annual fairs to honour its Saint along with other annual celebrations such as Ely Eel Day. Ely Eel Day celebrates the namesake of the city and includes a parade, an eel throwing competition (don’t worry, they don’t use real eels) and a competition for Town Criers.

No wonder so many pigeons are in Ely, they all want to compete too!
